From Ohio, USA:
My nine-year-old daughter (Type 1 since age 2) went to a pool party and noticed a sign at the hot tub that said diabetics needed permission from their doctors to use the tub. She was very upset. Why are diabetics advised to consult their doctor before using a hot tub?
Although I've seen these warnings, I have never been able to figure out why a child with insulin dependent diabetes shouldn't be able to go into a hot tub or whirlpool. I think this is a general disclaimer directed more towards older individuals with poor circulation and/or heart problems.
