Question:

From Indiana, USA:

Recently on the news I heard about a pill that will replace injections for Type 1 diabetics. Is this true? Please advise. I have two diabetic sons.

Answer:

Sadly, the media routinely hype all stories about any research in diabetes to make it sound like a cure or new miraculous treatment is just around the corner. Neither are true although there's a lot of exciting work going on and I am sure that we will be treating/curing this condition in a different way in 10-15 years.
