Question:

I was wondering if there is a maximum recommended daily amount of sorbitol for children, either with diabetes or without.

Answer:

Sorbitol is thought to have a role in diabetic neuropathy; but as far as is known this sorbitol is not derived from the dietary product. As a sweetener sorbitol is used in diabetic candy and gum and the limitations on its use are primarily gastrointestinal, not in terms of any mg. amount.
