Question:

Is there any coincident finding of loss of smell due to diabetes, and the time period over which same becomes apparent? I have not thus far found any articles pertinent to this subject.

Answer:

I haven't done a literature search because I assume that you already have, but I am not aware of any specific problems relating to sense of smell and diabetes. I dare say, however that, like any other nerves, the olfactory nerves could be affected by various forms of diabetic neuropathy.
