Question: From Greece:
My 15 year old brother was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes two years ago. He now uses Novo Nordisk PenMix 30. He likes football so he plays in on a Football Team. Since he uses Mixed insulin (30/70), other than lowering his insulin shot before the match, what kind of food should he eat to be energetic and avoid low glucose levels?
Answer:
He could eat an extra carbohydrate exchange before exercise and add a protein exchange if it's going to be heavy exercise. He should consult his diabetes team for other suggestions.
