Question: From Connecticut, USA: I was wondering how Type I diabetics, also those with hyperthyroidism, handle their diabetes when the thyroid is out of control. Answer: Poorly. When the thyroid is out of whack, whether hypothyroid (underactive) or hyperthyroid (overactive), it messes up the body's metabolism pretty dramatically.
