Question:

From California, USA:

I was told that protein will not raise the blood sugar. Is this true?

Answer:

It takes three to four hours for protein to enter the blood stream as glucose. It does have a small effect, however, it is generally considered to have little effect on the blood sugar. It certainly is not an appropriate treatment to raise a low blood sugar.
