Would you please tell me if diabetics of any type can take brown sugar? Is only white sugar the one to avoid?

Answer:

Brown sugar is carbohydrate just as white sugar is carbohydrate. There are almost 8 grams of carbohydrate in each Tablespoon of brown sugar while there are 12 grams of carbohydrate in a Tablespoon of white sugar. With carbohydrate counting as a meal planning option, some sugar may be figured into the total carbohydrate allowed by the meal plan.
