I have a 13 year old daughter with diabetes. We use Humalog and NPH. When I increase her dose for ketones, is it okay to use Humalog? The information I have says to use Regular.

Answer:

Yes, you are correct to increase your daughter's Humalog (lispro) dose. As a matter of fact, lispro is a form of Regular insulin chemically modified to take effect more quickly due to its faster absorption from subcutaneous tissue, although it consequently lasts for a shorter time.
