Question:

From Brooklyn, New York, USA:

How many Equal [aspartame] packets could a boy weighing 85-95 pounds consume a day? How many cups of Diet Coke could a boy weighing 85-95 pounds consume a day?

Answer:

A boy weighing 85 pounds could safely consume 55 packets of Equal or twelve 12-ounce cans of Diet Coke (this is 18 cups). A 95 pound boy could safely consume 61 packets of Equal or 14 12-ounce cans of Diet Coke (21 cups).

The recommendation is 50 mg/kg ideal body weight. One packet of Equal has about 35 mg aspartame and a 12 ounces of diet drink has about 150 mg of aspartame.
