Question:

From Columbus, Ohio, USA:

My 17 year old Type 1 daughter broke out with the chicken pox this past week. She has been in tremendous pain as well as a severe rash. Are there any particular complications associated with chicken pox and diabetes?

Answer:

To reassure you, chicken pox (also called Herpes Zoster) is a herpes virus induced disease not associated with any Type 1 diabetes complications.
