Question:

From Boston, Massachusetts, USA:

I have a 2 1/2 year old son who does drink a lot of water daily, and through out the night. He appears to have some of the symptoms of diabetes (excessive drinking, urination, hunger). He was premature at birth and still is very thin. What are some of the questions I should ask my physician if I think my son should be tested for diabetes?

Answer:

Tell your pediatrician just what you've told us here. That should be enough to get a blood glucose level or a urine glucose test done.
