Question: From Dublin, Ireland: Do children with diabetes tend to get more insect bites (for example, mosquito bites) than other children, particularly if blood sugar is high? My daughter seems to act like a magnet to them. Answer: No, they don't. Although you could speculate that "sweet" diabetic blood and/or other body fluids (such as sweat) could somehow attract insects, there is no scientific data to my knowledge that can support this hypothesis.
