Question:

From Tennessee, USA:

I have had diabetes since I was 11 (17 years ago). I have one child and my husband and I are considering another. We have some concerns because with my first pregnancy I developed preeclampsia which returned after are daughter was born.

Answer:

Diabetes and a history of preeclampsia are risk factors for having preeclampsia in a future pregnancy, so you are at risk of this happening again. You should discuss this with your obstetrician before you get pregnant again.
