Question:

From Ontario, Canada:

I'm 35 years old. I have type 2 diabetes. I recently bought a bottle of Lipton Iced Tea - unsweetened. There are no sugars listed as ingredients. My question is regarding one ingredient: maltodextrin. Is maltodextrin a sugar? Should I cease using this product?

Answer:

Malto-dextrins are used more as a filler and should have little impact on your blood glucose control. Just to be sure, check the amount of carbohydrate per serving on the label. So enjoy.
