Question:

From Fort Myers, Florida, USA:

My 15 year old has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I need to know what can she eat? What does this really mean being type 2?

Answer:

It will be best for you to discuss with the diabetes team the treatment for your child. For people with Type 2 diabetes, sometimes medications are used, sometimes not. Weight loss is indicated, usually by a combination of increased activity and decreased food intake. Specifics would need to be discussed with the diabetes team.
