I have diabetes and joint inflammation. Should I take supplements such as glucosamine or chondroitin?
Answer:
Glucosamine and chondroitin are both readily available on any supermarket shelf and there have been valid studies to suggest that they have a restorative effect on damaged joint cartilage. Moreover there is no evidence that they are harmful. I see no reason why someone with diabetes and arthritis should not try them; but it would be wise to let your doctor know that you are doing this.
