Question:

From Aspen, Colorado, USA:

What is the ADA recommendation for calories, fat, carbos, and protein for an active 7-year-old boy? My dietitian has much information for adults, but limited for children.

Answer:

It would depend on the boy's height and weight and activity level, but basically about 50% of calories should come from carbohydrates. Also, his current eating pattern should be looked at closely. Hopefully you can find a dietitian who works with children, since this would be the most helpful.
