Can diabetics eat sugar substitutes?
Yes. Sugar substitutes vary in taste and use. It is wise to use a variety of them and to use them in moderation.
Additional Comment by Lois Schmidt Finney, diabetes dietitian:Sweeteners based on sugar alcohols should be used with more caution since excessive use of these sweeteners can cause diarrhea.
