Question: From Richmond, British Columbia, Canada:
Can you explain the different amongst plasma, serum, and whole blood glucose? The standard normal value for blood glucose is 90-110 mg/dl, is this based on plasma, serum, or whole blood?
Answer:
Whole blood glucose concentrations are around 10-15% lower than plasma or serum values. The values you quote are for plasma.
