Question: From International Falls, Minnesota, USA:
I am looking for information on why there may be a seasonal onset (fall-winter) with juvenile onset diabetes. I am an insulin dependent diabetic myself, and the question came up in an Anatomy and Physiology class I am taking.
Answer:
We don't really know but the speculation (with supporting evidence) is that a group of people, on the brink of diabetes, are finally pushed into it by the seasonal upsurge in viral infections.
