Question: From Illinois, USA:
When you answered the questions about environmental factors, why don't you mention vaccinations as a possible cause? Vaccines are not excluded, as the same with cow's milk and nitrites in water. Please don't overlook the harm vaccines could cause.
Answer:
There have, as you must know, been a flurry of publications that have claimed a relationship between immunisations and the timing of immunisations and incidence of autoimmune diabetes. The position of the Communicable Disease Center is that the evidence does not justify making any changes in one of the most important children's health programs in the developed world. In support of this a national study of the possible environmental factors that precipitate clinical diabetes in genetically susceptible children has not so far confirmed any such association.
