Question:

From Raleigh, North Carolina, USA:

Is there a web site that I can go to in order to obtain statistics on the number of minorities with diabetes? Also, is there are particular agency which has the number of reported cases in a give state, like the Department of Health?

Answer:

For two separate articles on diabetes among African-Americans and among Hispanics, go to:
http://www.niddk.nih.gov/health/diabetes/diabetes.htm.

For a breakdown of Hispanic origin and for some data on American Indians and Alaska Natives and on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, go to:
http://www.niddk.nih.gov/health/diabetes/pubs/dmstats/dmstats.htm

There are even more ethnicity statistics in Diabetes in America, 2nd Edition, at:
http://diabetes-in-america.s-3.com/Default.htm
See chapters 31 through 34, which are on-line and can be downloaded separately.

For statistics on the number and percentage of adults with diabetes by age, sex, and state, go to:
http://www.cdc.gov/n ccdphp/ddt/survl/compare.htm
