Question:

From Hutchinson, Minnesota, USA:

Is Type 1 Diabetes autosomal or sex related?

Answer:

Diabetes is a multigenic disorder -- i.e., the genetic component of the risk is made up from the contribution by multiple genes. The environment then acts to make diabetes more (or less) likely in conjunction with this genetic complement.
