Question:

From Pennsylvania, USA:

Several years ago, I had to rush my wife to a hospital because of stomach pains. 30 minutes after we got there she had a baby. We had no idea she was pregnant. Two years later, our son was diagnosed with Type 1. My wife doesn't smoke or drink. The doctor estimated he was 4 weeks premature. Is there any connection to him getting this disease and this rare type of birth?

Answer:

As far as I know premature delivery and Type 1 diabetes are not connected.
