Question:

From San Diego, California, USA:

Are you a diabetic if you are overweight and get these red bumps that really itch, and since your mom is a diabetic she says you may be one too?

Answer:

Diabetes is a disease that is diagnosed by measuring blood glucose. To be sure of diabetes, you need to have fasting blood glucoses of over 126 on two occasions.

Are you at risk? Yes, but you can't diagnose it by looking; the blood sugar tests are necessary.
