Question:

From Birmingham, Alabama, USA:

My son is 11 years old and has type 1 diabetes going on 3 years now. I am very interested in the inhaler. My son hates taking shots and this would be a great help to him. I have called his endocrinologist; she stated they are not participating in this study. Where can I find out how to enroll my son?

Answer:

At present the youngest age for any study worldwide is 12. Plus, no study contemplates anyone with type 1 diabetes off shots completely. Most will need at least 2 per day.
