Question:

From Vallejo, California, USA:

My 41 year old fiance has had Insulin dependent diabetes since he was 12. He complains of burning feet, sometimes sharp pains shooting through feet. Shooting pains starting at tops of calves on down, sometimes originating at top of back of legs. What could be causing this? Is burning feet common?

Answer:

Symptoms such as you describe could be related to his diabetes. He should talk to his diabetes doctor about this.
