Question:

From Toledo, Ohio, USA:

My 4 year old grandson is scheduled for a 3 hour blood sugar test. They will draw his blood 6 times and give him sweet things to drink in between. He does not want to be poked even once and I am afraid he will struggle, scream and cry. Is there a simpler test for one so young and active? His only symptom is thirst and lots of liquid consumption.

Answer:

I don't routinely do glucose tolerance tests. I give meters and teach to monitor if I have a question.
