Question:

From Malta:

I am a female, 58 years old, and has had diabetes for the last 5 years. I take 80mg of my diabetes pill in the morning and 40mg in the evening. When is it best to take them, before or after meals?

Answer:

I always advise my type 2 patients to take all pills for diabetes some 20-30 minutes before each meal depending on the blood sugar. If higher than 150-200mg% a longer interval between starting of eating and intake of them is required.
