It depends on how well you are eating, and also the increased insulin resistance due to placental hormones. Either way close attention to your glucose values and frequent adjustments of insulin are usually required. OWJ Additional comments from Lois Schmidt Finney, diabetes dietitian: The blood glucose values usually fall in the first trimester, then gradually rise, so insulin needs also rise as the second and third trimester arrive. But you will need to work closely with your diabetes team and stay on top of the blood glucose values.
