Answer: Most patients become disillusioned at some point and will have a period of not taking good care of their diabetes. This is generally not too much of a problem, if it's a short time. Long term neglect is associated with a dramatic increase in acute and long term problems with eye disease, kidney problems and many other circulatory diseases.
