Question: From Alexandria, Egypt:
My daughter is 7.5 years old and has had Type 1 diabetes for 3 years. I want to know the ideal dose for her -- she's 25 kg., and whether I should give her insulin 3 times a day or 2 times. I've noticed that with 3 injections she's better controlled. I also want to know whether diabetes has anything to do with growing up short.
Answer:
The best insulin regimen is the one that works best for the individual. There is no unequivocal evidence to support one regimen over another.
Well controlled diabetes is associated with normal growth.
