Question: From Choctaw, Oklahoma, USA:
I am a white male 50 years old with a heart condition and no family history of any type of diabetes. Can taking a beta blocker (propranolol) for 27 years cause Type 2 diabetes?
Answer:
I know of no literature on or have no information about how propranolol could cause diabetes. Are you overweight? That would definitely be a risk factor for developing diabetes.
