Is celiac disease associated with diabetes?
Answer:
Yes indeed, celiac disease is another autoimmune condition associated with Type 1A diabetes. In North America, up to 10% of new onset cases of this kind of diabetes have a positive anti-transglutaminase antibody test in the blood which is the definitive diagnostic test. However, not everyone who has a positive test will develop the clinical syndrome.
