Question:

From Los Angeles, California, USA:

Does intravenous immunoglobulin work to prevent or slow the progression of type 1 diabetes? What studies have been done?

Answer:

There have been a very few reports of hypogammaglobulinemia in association with Type 1A diabetes, but the two conditions were thought to be unrelated (J.Clin.Path 53.236, 2000). there is no evidence that giving IV immunoglobulin will prevent or mitigate autoimmune diabetes.
