Question:

From Hurricane, West Virginia, USA:

My five year old son was diagnosed with type 1 at the age of 21 months following a Coxsackie virus infection. Can he get the virus again, if exposed?

Answer:

There are multiple strains and variants of Coxsackie, so yes he can. It is a common childhood illness, so I wouldn't be alarmed.
