Question:

From Missouri, USA:

My 11 year old son becomes very ill if he has to skip a meal (e.g., if we're on vacation and mealtimes aren't normal). He usually ends his day vomiting and dizzy. In addition, he is painfully thin and urinates frequently. Should I have his glucose levels tested?

Answer:

It is unlikely your child has diabetes, but it does sound as though you should have him seen a paediatrician to have this checked out.
