Question:

From Mount Kisco, New York, USA:

Recently, I was having symptoms of hypoglycemia so took my blood sugar, and it was 55 mg/dl [3.1 mmol/L]. I drank orange juice and ate cookies (the only thing I had handy) and 30 minutes later my sugar was 137 mg/dl [7.6 mmol/L]. Two hours after the snack I tested again and my sugar was 92 mg/dl [5.1 mmol/L]. I do not have diabetes. I had eaten a poor breakfast of a bagel and a candy bar around lunch time and this first reading was taken about five hours later in the day. Should I be concerned?

Answer:

No.
