Question:

From Australia:

My three year old cousin has salt diabetes, but his younger brother is okay. Can you tell me more about it?

Answer:

Don't know what salt diabetes is. Is this Diabetes Insipidus (DI) where the hormone vasopressin is either deficient or not functioning properly in the kidneys?

SB

[Editor's comment: DI is a different disorder than diabetes mellitus. For previous questions about DI at Children with Diabetes, see Diabetes Insipidus. Also, organizations dealing with DI are listed at Services. WWQ]
