Question:

From Muncie, Indiana, USA:

Is it true that lactose intolerant babies have a higher risk of developing diabetes?

Answer:

The short answer is no. Indirectly, however, lactose intolerance may be one of the symptoms of celiac disease which is another autoimmune problem which may occur on its own or be found in about 8% of people with type 1A (autoimmune) diabetes.
