Question: From Seymour, Tennessee, USA:
I am 27 years old, and I have had diabetes since I was 13 with terrible control, until just recently. What age is too old to have a baby, if you have had poor control of your blood sugars in the past?
Answer:
There is not a strict age criteria for pregnancy. Poor diabetes control in the past can have implications if you have developed any kidney or eye problems. It is essential that you get into good control prior to conception to minimize any risks to the baby.
