Question:

From England:

My nine year old daughter has had diabetes since age three. Recently a teacher told her off in class, and one-half hour later her sugar level was low. Can this happen?

Answer:

I think that hypoglycemia may occasionally happen to any child with diabetes -- anytime, everywhere. Most important is to be aware of this and have knowledge of appropriate treatment on a short term basis, and on a long term basis, to be able to adjust insulin dosages to minimize such problems.
