Question:

From Sydney, New South Wales, Australia:

My 63 year old wife, who had diabetes for 12 years and has been on insulin for two, also has severe liver disease and depression. Is there a connection between severe hearing loss and insulin dependent diabetes?

Answer:

Hearing loss can occur in a variety of clinical situations. Diabetes is not a common reason for hearing loss, however.
