Question:

From Hays, Kansas, USA:

I am almost 30 years old, have had type 1 diabetes since I was 13, and I haven't been in very good control for the past few years. I have had problem with tingling and numbness in my legs, and at times, I get severe lower back pains. Is this a sign of kidney problems?

Answer:

The tingling in your feet may be neuropathy. The back pain may also be musculoskeletal in origin. You should see your physician to determine the origin of your symptoms.
