Question:

From New Orleans, Louisiana, USA:

My son is hyperactive. Does gestational diabetes affect a child after birth?

Answer:

Gestational diabetes does not usually affect a child after birth. The cause of 'hyperactivity' is not known. Could this be related to problems during the neonatal period (e.g., hypoglycemia)?
