Question: From Manalapan, New Jersey, USA: Can a 40 year old person with type 1 diabetes have seizures for the very first time and become brain dead in a few minutes? Could arrhythmias cause seizures for the first time? Answer: It was likely had a sudden cardiac event, probably a sudden abnormal cardiac rhythm that caused death. Hypoglycemia might have played a role, but the heart was the likely culprit.
