Question:

From Glen Rose, Texas, USA:

My husband has type 2 diabetes. Will Medicare pay for his pills?

Answer:

Generally, Medicare will not pay for any medications. Sometimes when you are in a managed Medicare program [usually what is called an HMO], the medications are covered. So, you will need to check on your plan.

[Editor's comment: Although Medicare doesn't usually pay for pills, they will cover the costs of a limited number of blood sugar test strips, and flu shots. WWQ]
