Question:

From Chandigarh, India:

My 11 year old only son, diagnosed with type 1 diabetes about three months ago, has more or less with an acceptable range of blood sugars, but he usually passes two to three stools in a day, and a course of de-worming him has shown very little improvement. His stool test was normal. Any qualified advice?

Answer:

Your son's physicians should check for celiac disease and other autoimmune diseases possibly associated with type 1 diabetes.
