Question: I am interested in finding out about Dr. Usala's work on a cure for type 1 diabetes. Answer: See Encelle - A Novel Approach..., which states in part: Encelle, Inc., a young company in Greenville, North Carolina, is a fascinating new entry in the world of encapsulated islet xenotransplantation. They appear to be at odds with all the conventional wisdom in the field today, and actual results are preliminary. However, their approach produces a bioartificial pancreas - Encellin XP - that is much closer to the environment and behavior of a normal pancreas. The founder is Dr. Anton-Lewis Usala, a Pediatric Endocrinologist and Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at East Carolina University...
